Stuff the Bus 2022

2nd Annual!

STUFF THE BUS IS BACK!  In continuing with our school theme this year to 'Be Courageous, Take a Risk, Make a Difference,' WES is proud to bring back to Walkerton Elementary the Second Annual 'Stuff the Bus' food drive!  Stuff the Bus is an amazing opportunity for our students to once again give back to our community!

During the week of November 7-11, we are asking our students to bring to school non-perishable food items.  Classrooms will compete to see which room can bring in the most non-perishable food items  !Students from the winning class will receive (1) Their very own 'Stuff the Bus' t-shirt, exclusive to the winning class, (2) A pizza party with Mr. Stauffer and Dr. Fuller, and (3) That class will actually help STUFF A JOHN GLENN BUS filled with food!  Woot woot! (Or should we say TOOT! TOOT?!)

We will then take this bus to our local food pantry, and all of the food we raise will go to our local familiar in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas.THANK YOU again for joining us in teaching our kids the importance of giving back to their community!

Fire Safety Month at WES

A+ for our Fire Safety lessons and drill. Our local Firefighters visited WES to assist with our fire drill and visited classes with fire safety information (and apples!), and to answer student questions. The big goal this year is to have TWO escape routes at each home.

If you have not already heard, I am very sorry to share that Richard Reese, retired Superintendent of John Glenn Schools, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2022.

Mr. Reese grew up in Tyner, IN. He was a John Glenn High School graduate and loved playing baseball and basketball for John Glenn High School. After college, Dick was a teacher in both Chester and Knox Schools, before he returned home to John Glenn as the principal of Urey Middle School. He served over twenty years as the principal of Urey before becoming the John Glenn School Corporation Superintendent. His tenure ran for almost 15 years. Mr. Reese was a true advocate for public education

and community service throughout his 40-plus-year career in education and into his retirement.
