FFA

Congratulations to the John Glenn FFA Proficiency award winners.  John Glenn FFA members competed in 11 proficiency areas, of these 7 placed first, 2 placed 2nd, 1 placed 3rd, and 1 placed 4th

Aerial

The National Council of Teachers of English ranked the 2009 Aerial as “Superior-Nominated for Highest Award.”  It was one of only three magazines in the State of Indiana to receive that top recognition.  The other two schools were Penn HS and Park Tudor, a private school in Indy.

Out of 452 schools in the country, only 78 high school literary magazines were nominated for the highest award.  That puts John Glenn’s Aerial in high company again, and one to the top three in the state.  Congratulations to all the writers, artists, and Aerial staff

Four Star Recognition!

It was announced on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, that John Glenn High School is being honored as a 2008-2009 Indiana Four Star School.  17 Indiana high schools were named to the 2008-2009 list of honorees.

"Four Star Schools are those public schools who meet AYP under NCLB (No Child Left Behind) and are in the top 25% of all Indiana Public Schools in four categories:  ISTEP+ % Passing in both LA and Math; ISTEP+ LA T-Score; ISTEP+ Mathematics T-Score and Attendance Rate."

There are more than 1,860 schools (K-12) and more than 375+ high schools in Indiana.  Again, seventeen (17) high schools achieved this rating.

This outstanding achievement (and others that have come our way over the last two years) would not be possible without  tremendous effort and hard work from the JGHS faculty and staff. Congratulations and thank you!

Obviously, the JGHS students are to be commended for their labor and achievement.  Over the past three years, Adequate Yearly Progress rates have improved, test scores, attendance and graduation numbers have all gone up significantly.  Congratulations to our students.
