Dear JG Family,
As promised we continue to monitor the CV-19 situation in our local communities and across the state. The number of cases in St. Joseph and Marshall Counties have increased significantly, thus, we wanted to provide the following updates:
· Per the Governor and local health departments, all people on-campus are required to wear a mask. We are developing plans for “mask breaks” in light of these more strict orders.
· Due to the recent increase in cases locally and state-wide, we have updated our back-to-school plan to include “Green, Yellow, Red” phases.
Green-100% on campus learning, as we have already discussed.
Yellow-Hybrid model of 50% student capacity on-campus with 50% students online.
A hybrid model is a plan that provides a combination of on-campus and online learning each week based on a predetermined weekly schedule.
· The schedule would allow families to plan ahead of time for on-campus days vs. online from home days.
· It also allows for reduced capacity, greater separation of student groups, extra time for symptom recognition, and additional deep cleaning measures in-between separate student groups.
· Please see additional information in the plan document.
Red-100% JG Online
Note: This update does not change anything for our families choosing the 100% JG Online Academy option. We will still provide this option as well.
CV-19 guidance changes every day. As we follow the changes we will adjust our plans. Please see our live reopening plan posted on the JGSC website at www.jgsc.k12.in.us. This update will allow everyone to plan for the three scenarios we are most likely to encounter this school year. Standby for follow-up information next week confirming the final plans for our first days of school.
If you have not yet done so, please register your child by Wednesday, July 29. Registration is through your Harmony account. More information may be found at www.jgsc.k12.in.us/information. Login questions may be emailed to asteg@jgsc.k12.in.us. Include your child's name and building.
Also, whether you plan on needing bus transportation or not, we need everyone to complete this quick transportation survey at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeVPLOMb1LZ9r0YYv9oLLRsQAewVUDMQohEkQwzY2D42OFYvg/viewform
Please know you can count on us to make the best decision possible with the information and guidance we receive from other governmental agencies. As well as in light of what we know about the needs of our students, families, and communities, I promise, we will get things back to a full normal as soon as we possibly can.
Never forget that the John Glenn Community is a determined and reliable group of individuals. We have a history of excellence in many ways, particularly when it comes to character and work ethic!
Even in the midst of these unknown circumstances, let us have confidence in each other, support for our leaders, and continue to demonstrate the very unique “John Glenn Moxie” that so many people flock to be a part of. As long as we all work together and strive to continue the John Glenn tradition of excellence, our children will continue to thrive regardless of the school model we need to follow.
Warm regards,
Christopher Winchell
